Lower Merion gets it. But more importantly, Lower Merion has the money to see to it that the vision it gets will happen. In an extremely progressive, positive and green-thinking initiative, Lower Merion Township has a master plan that will introduce public park space in the land it owns on the west bank of the Schuylkill River, extending Martin Luther King Drive from Falls Bridge past the CSX and former Georgia Pacific lands, connecting to the land between the West Laurel Hill and Westminster Cemeteries above 76, and eventually across the Schuylkill into Manayunk via one (or some) of the Blackie, Pencoyd or R6 Bridges. It's a fascinating plan you can read about HERE. These are just pictures of the lands as they existed on August 5, 2006.

Special thanks to Ken Blackney for all the info on the project and for being a great tour guide.
