The Far Northeast. Just hearing it tends to weird out the non-Neastie or at least draw a blank stare. That's because Franklin Mills Mall is about as far as most Philadelphians -- well, the 2/3 who don't reside in the Northeast -- have made it into the Far Northeast. And since the Northeast as a whole was shamefully missing from phillyskyline.com, we went all out and straight in. The Northeast's northeasternmost neighborhood, Parkwood, is surrounded by the biggest shopping mall in Philadelphia, a D.C.N.R. supported state park that few have heard of and fewer have been to, and an abandoned mental hospital. Sounded like a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon, y'know?
