These photos were taken on the morning of Wednesday, 29 September 2004. Jeanne, a hurricane who had touched down in Florida not three days before, was "only" a tropical depression by the time she reached Pennsylvania. That tropical depression was good enough for a tornado in Cherry Hill NJ, another in Newark DE, several road closings and at least one death. ... and Philadelphia was crazy flooded. Some parts of northwest Philly (Germantown/Mount Airy) got over 10 inches of rain. I didn't make it up that far; Kelly and Lincoln Drives were closed anyway. These photos were taken along the Schuylkill River between South Street Bridge and the Art Museum. |
