Where Atlantic City is known for its booze, broads and big stake gambling, Ocean City, less than 10 miles downshore, is known for its family friendliness. Being a dry town will do that for you; Sea Isle City and the Wildwoods are the next few stops down the Parkway for those looking for a wilder-than-OC but not-as-wild-as-AC time. Plus Somers Point is just across the bay via 9th Street Bridge with its bars and restaurants.

Ocean City, though, really is about the ocean. The boardwalk and the beach. In fact you need paid tags just to get onto the beach. The boardwalk stays true to OC's family-friendly roots with its miniature golf courses, two ferris wheels, three Mack & Manco pizza stands, five Kohr Bros custard outlets, Gillian's arcades and Wonderland, salt water taffy and fudge, the Air Circus, tchotchke and trinket stores, and that never changing time capsule, Surf Mall. (Tie-dye Doors shirts? Got that. Oakley shades? Check. Pink daisy dukes that say Cutie on the butt? Roger.)

These thirty photos were taken up and down the length of Ocean City.
