As the PSFS was teetering on bankruptcy in the late 1980s, it was bought out by Pittsburgh-based Mellon Bank. Mellon sold the building to
Loews Hotels in 1997, and Loews began a three year renovation and conversion. After $115M of work, the Loews Philadelphia Hotel opened in
2000 to much acclaim. Loews not only retrofitted 70 year old offices to modern hotel rooms, but also refinished the marble, granite,
clocks, furniture and other interior amenities. The second floor banking area now houses a convention hall and ballroom. The first floor
is home to upscale seafood restaurant Sole Food, as well as studios for NBC10's morning show, called "10!" It airs at 10 (get it?) and
has a subtitle of Live at Loews.
